It looks like 15th June become the official ‘Gimbal Day‘. Besides Zhiyun, DJI also announced two new Ronin DSLR cinema gimbals. While the DJI RS 3 can support up to 6.6 lbs (3 kg), the RS 3 Pro can support up to 10 lbs (4.5 kg). In order to accommodate larger cameras, the RS3 Pro also has longer arms that are constructed from one uncut piece of carbon fibre, just like Ronin 2. Furthermore, the RS 3 Pro can utilize the Ronin 4D’s advanced LiDAR focusing technology that has now been placed inside a new device called the DJI LiDAR Range Finder (RS). Here you can check the camera and lens compatibility of both gimbals.
Both DJI RS3 and RS3 Pro gimbals feature the same automated axis lock system, Bluetooth Shutter Button, 1.8-inch OLED touchscreen, and 3rd-Gen Ronin stabilization algorithm that is claimed to improve performance by 20%, and one-tap calibration. According to DJI, if you want to use the RS 3 with lenses that have focal lengths of up to 100mm, a SuperSmooth mode provides further stabilization.
While the DJI RS 3 gimbal is powered by a 2S 3000 mAh (21Wh) battery, the much more powerful DJI RS 3 Pro by a 4S 1950 mAh (30Wh) battery pack. Both have about 12 hours of working time.
