VDLPOWER HS1500: Portable Backup UPS Power Station

High-power portable power stations like this VDLPOWER HS1500 have become increasingly popular. They offer the ability to charge a wide range of USB-powered mobile devices multiple times and, via AC outlets (PURE SINE WAVE), can even power devices and appliances such as coffee machines, TVs, mini-fridges, power tools, or CPAP.

The HS1500 power station’s appearance differs slightly from those I reviewed. Instead foldable handler, it has a big fixed handler that makes it impossible to stack more units. In addition to the status screen, there are four USB Type A, two USB Type C, and four AC outlets (six on the US version) on the front panel. It also has two standard 12V DC and a car cigaret socket.

The VDLPOWER HS1500 is equipped with a wide range of safety features. They protect the battery and your devices while used. That’s always important, but even more so when you you have a lithium-ion battery of this huge capacity. The LiFePO4 cells (pack of 48Ah/25.6V) are rated for 3,500 cycles. The major downside of this solar generator is that it can’t be used in UPS mode.
