Until recently, remote controlled drones were expensive toys. Now, JJRC H345 offers not one but two drones for the same friendly price. When I say “friendly” I mean less than $30!
JJRC includes in the H345 package, a white drone called JJI and a black one called JJII. Before you get too enthusiastic thinking that you can play in the same time with your kid, you should know that only one remote controller is provided.
In my opinion, the main purpose of this package is that you can benefit of more play fun as you can play with the second drone while the first one is charging. The fact that the drones are not exactly identical can also be a plus, different design is definitely an advantage too.
Another major advantage of the 1+1 pack is that if you brake one drone you can still use the RC with the second one. Based on my experience, cheap drone are not worth repairing. Even if you find proper spare parts it takes an eternity to receive them from China (while your kid asks you every day when he can fly again).
What are the best features of JJRC H345?
- One drone becomes unusable, you have the other one;
- Compact size with foldable arms;
- Nice game-pad style remote controller;
- Different color lights for front and rear;
- 6-axis gyro stabilization;
- Headless flight mode;
- 3-levels of speed rates;
- About 5 minutes of flight time.
None of the two H345 drones are equipped with a camera. Anyway, I do not feel the lack of it. A poor quality camera with its extra weight and power consumption adds only more stress to the flight battery.
JJRC H345 (JJI and JJII) hands-on review
Disclosure: I received this 1+1 combo pack as part of a product review collaboration with Banggood. Product specs and quality may vary according to the manufacturer’s reliability, so I cannot guarantee that you will get exactly the same thing as seen in my review.
Although the box contains two drones, it is surprisingly small. Only one battery charger and one set of spare propellers are included.
Besides the color, there is a slight size and design difference between the JJ1 and JJ2. While the white JJI measures 9 x 9 x 3 cm, the black JJII measures 9.5 x 9 x 3 cm. When are folded, they fit perfectly into your pocket.
During night flights, you will be guided by 3 LEDs in case of the H345 – JJI and by 5 LEDs in case of the H345 – JJII. Both drones use the same black two-leaf propellers.
Both aircraft are powered by the same type of 3.7V 200 mAh Li-Po battery. Unfortunately, the battery is integrated and not easily replaceable.
Remote controller
As I previously mentioned, I got only one transmitter for the two drones. The game-pad-style controller is comfortable for both adults and kids.
On the front panel, besides the two control sticks and power button, there are 4 trimming switches (Left/Right rotation fine-tuning, Left/Right side-ward tuning, Forward/Backward fine-tuning, Return to Home, and Headless mode.
While the left shoulder button allows toggling between 3-speed rates, the right one engages the Flips & Rolls mode.
Flight performance
Both drones have about the same flight performance. No altitude-hold feature, so you need to play a bit with the throttle stick in order to keep the desired flight altitude.
Indoor, both are stable. Outdoor small drones are generally easily taken by the slightest breeze. Anyway, winter is here and you will probably fly them only in your living room. Don’t worry, even if it doesn’t have blade protectors, it cannot produce any damage.
If you expect, from pressing the RTH button, the drone to return exactly to the take-off point, you will be disappointed. As I said many times, without GPS you can’t have accurate Return to Home feature.
Flips are performed nice with only about 50 cm altitude loss.
When the battery is near empty, the LEDs will start to flash, letting you know that is time to land. Luckily, the fun can continue; while you charge one drone, you can play with the other one.
That is awesome, I like the idea that you can play with one while the other one is still charging. I wonder if you can use them simultaneously (both H345 drones), that would be cool to see, it would mean that you would need less pilots to do a drone air show.
you can use only one at the time, because only 1 remote controller is included.
